Measures to Control Leaf Webber pest in Cabbage Crop

The leaf webber (Crocidolomia binotalis) is a moth larva that is a major pest of cabbage crops. It is native to India and Southeast Asia, but has now spread to many other parts of the world. The larvae feed on the leaves of cabbage plants, webbing them together and creating holes. This can damage the plants and reduce yields.

  • Humidity: High humidity levels (above 70%) favor the survival and development of Leaf Webbers, as it prevents their eggs and larvae from drying out.

Symptoms of Pest/Disease:

  • Webbed leaves: The larvae will spin webs to protect themselves from predators and the environment.
  • Holes in the leaves: The larvae will eat the leaves of the cabbage plant, creating holes.
  • Stunted growth: The damage caused by the larvae can stunt the growth of the cabbage plant.
